At least you still have a Jeep, Gully! I guess that makes me the Ultimate Web Jeeper? lol i almost gave up and took it to the shop, on the ujoint swap due to the hub bolts. I soaked them for days with pb blaster, torched it, ruined an cheap 13mm, wrecked a brand new duralast from auto zone, at least i could return that one, tried using my 1/2 breakerbarr with my floor jack while hammering on it, which honestly scared me with how much that cheap bar bent. I then broke down and bought some snapon tools, a wrench replacemtand a 3/8 breaker bar. seems illogical to use a shorter, smaller breaker bar but it did the trick with the jack assist (my bfh just isnt big enough). The steering box replacement was smooth sailing at least. So the factory zj box has a 12.7:1 ratio and the grand wagoneer has a 14:1. Wagoneer boxes have a 17:1 ratio fyi. 84-91 GW boxes are a direct bolt in. the 83 and older boxes dont have the right connections for the ps steering lines. I was worried about the ratio change but it is barely noticible. I didn't think the steering was hard to turn 32's before but now it is super easy. The only thing i should do is get the fourth mounting hole sorted out fotr the extra support, but with the steering box brace it is supported much better than from the factory. I have enough pictures I should do a write up on it.

Gully, doing a write up would be great. Useful info right in this post as far as that goes.
Glad you finally got the U-joint done in one piece.

Glad it all worked out. I'd love to see a write up for the steering box. Sounds like a great upgrade!

finally found my cord to download pics from the camera...it was in the jeep of all places...
As far as updates I finally got around to dealing with the tire rubbing my charcoal box, only had to lengthen one line to be able to turn it on its side. taking off the brush gaurd, bumper coveer, gril,l and both headlights seems like way to much work to just rotate that stupid box 90*

That does sound like alot of work for such a minor change. Then if that is the next step to achieving the goal, how bad is it? At least it's not the heater core
