I'll have to post a pick or 2.
currently it has a 3.5" lift. Tucked and rolled front fenders and the metric equivalent of 33 x 9.50 KM2's .......AKA...........my DD.
Any how, I have some sheet metal work to do. Pretty much replacing every floor panel in it. Beings I'm not ready to give it up, and it may eventually turn into a wheeling project at some point in the future, I'm going to fix it up.
I also have to fix some windsheild channel and replace it. It just started to get a little rust popping on the PS rocker and lower rear wheel house, but other than that, it's in pretty nice shape.
Typical 200+ k on it, but it's been a good vehicle.
Back to the repair work. I'm going to try to document and post info as I rework this thing for Inspection in Jan.

I finally threw a new battery in yesterday. The old one has very nearly left me sat a few too many times. Now she starts like new again.

I pulled the passenger seat and started pulling up the carpet to get started on the floor replacement. The idea is to keep driving it as much as possible while working my way around it.
It deffinitely could be worst. I'm glad to see that the factory galvi inside the frame rail has held up, so the rust is held basically to the the floor pans. Most of it seemed to have started from behind the seam sealer of all places. The floor to rocker seam is the worst.

I really think the main culprit is the carpet padding they used. And mine had what appeared to be a bag with a white cloth/paper in it, maybe 1/2" thick under the padding under the xriver and passenger feet. Nothing but big sponges. Is had a pock marked floor on my xj, nothing bad. It was about a dozen of so holes about 1/8". I put bondo on it 10 years ago. Good since!

Mine had that same pad. Mine acctually rotted from the underside in for the most part. The only other spots were where the spot welds were. Tempered metal rusts faster.
Other than that it seems to have started under all the original seam sealer. It was sealed and then painted so the bare metal under the sealer seems to be a big culprit.
The driver side rotted from the famous windsheild leak!
The entire thing is mostly rotted from the frame rail (unibody rail) out. The rest is pretty much fine.

XJs sound like MK3 VWs! Floor to rocker seams and around the plastic plugs in floor where the "rust proofing" drains out during the production process.

I have to remember to get pics, but I have the front floor pan made up and welded in on the passenger side. 2 more pans and it will be finished to the back seat. Then I can jump to the driver side.
The amount of time to due it correctly is on the high side, but it still beats a payment.
