Fortunately we have good neighbors, too, and one of them was still up at 2 am that heard the drunk girl smash into my car and called the police.

In bed asleep this last time. I was home and asleep when they did it. My bedroom is on the second floor on the opposite side of the house from the driveway and garage. Plus the garage is set back from the front of the house. Thieves skulk around in the wee hours of the morning when good people are not about to see their criminal ways. Plus the neighborhood I live in all the houses are on at least 1 acre or more lots so my closest neighbors bedroom is probably 400-500 feet away from my garage.
The first time was mid morning when everyone was at work. From what we figured, the thief was dropped off, walked up to a back door and threw a brick through a window on the door. They entered the house, did a quick grab and run. Cops said they where probably in the house for maybe 5-10 minutes.
Believe me, my neighbors watch out for each other but we can't sit starring out our windows in paranoia 24/7.

very true. Our neighbors went out and got the neighborhood crime watch signs and posted them around, and since then there hasn't been any criminal mischief.

Started making brackets for the extra set of BMW seats to go into this. While the first bracket came out nicely, it set the seats way too high. The second round will reuse the Jeep's manual slider rails, but retain the BMW power height and backrest adjustments. Tapatalk and this forum aren't a big fan of letting me attach pictures...

Passed inspection today, though it needs an engine mount, they said. It will get two. The trans also decided it was done over the last week plus that it sat. Feels like it's only operating in one gear. It does much better if you use low/1 to pull out, then shift up into "D". Nothing from the "2" position but more of the "1" position. Kinda like a power glide with a reverse manual valve body. Lol! Will start making phone calls.

I played around with on the way home that day and low gear, when directly selected, still works. When in "D" it's stuck in 3rd gear and slips like crazy when pulling away from a stop. Did some research and it sounds like it's a governor issue. The dealer stocks the governor pressure solenoid, though it may need the sensor, too. Best case it's less than $100, worst it's about $200. I'm still not going to argue with what I have into this thing.

Looked into things a bit further and decided I might as well go through the whole trans, while I'm in there. I should still be at or under the average cost of a used transmission with a rebuild kit, and it will give me more piece of mind.

That works. Trans issues can be a bummer.

Picked up a trans for $50 off craigslist, guy even threw in a filter kit. Figure it's worth a shot for that kind of $$!

As scrap it ought to be worth a part of that.

Well, both trannies had a good bit of shavings in the bottom of the pan, and the $50 one was missing the magnet in the pan. Decision was made to not drop the whole thing at this point. I did swap the governor assembly, but found the difference between obd1 and obd2 while doing so. The governor pressure sensors are different. The early trans only has 3 wires, while the later trans has 4. So only the governor solenoid truly was replaced. Refilled it with the proper atf+4, and this picture best sums it up: Found this in the bottom of the drain pan but have no clue which trans it came out of. Moral of the story? Empty the drain pan between draining transmissions. Though I also now know there will need to be some minor mods to the harness inside the obd2 trans to make it work right, but that will be simple while rebuilding it.

New governor pressure sensor and solenoid acquired yesterday. Hope to get them installed this weekend and see where we are. I want to get this thing mobile before the snow and so I can get it into the dealer for my free trailer hitch per a gas tank safety recall!
I also scored a free Dodge (mopar) accessory roof basket for it last week.

There is still a flicker of life. I check this site every day and was wondering how long (if ever) it would take for another post. Glad to see you're still kicking it YJ. Not wanting to hijack your thread but seeing it's just you and me we can catch up. I did what's probably the dumbest thing I've ever done and bought a 2016 Polaris Razor XP1000. Figure I'll do weekend wheeling in it and keep working towards my goal of doing Expedition wheeling in the JK. Keep the faith brother.
