Well, kinda. I got to play with a 4 banger TJ we have on the car lot. Freshened up a 2.5 without a nasty rod knock and put that in it, re-wired the sound bar (properly), and installed a new Bestop, after a little rust repair to the base of one of the upper door frames.
Driving it reminded me of when I first got my YJ, except for the ride and handling. The TJ is definitely a huge improvement in that department. Really makes me wonder how much better the YJ would've driven with a shackle reversal on the front.
Also got a test run on freshening the 9-1/4" rear in my truck this week. With the side adjusters they really aren't bad, just a bit of a pain until you get the process figured out. In the end it came out well, but that's the first rear diff I've setup in a good 7 or 8 years. Probably the most nerve wracking test drive I've taken in a while. Worried about screwing up $750 worth of new Trak-Loc, R&P, and bearings. When those spring clips break they really make a mess in those rears.

That's for sure. The bearing adjusters are deffinitely awesome. Saves a whole lot of time.

More worried about setting pinion depth on mine. I'd also still like to get my hands on dial-type in/lbs torque wrench for measuring preload. Haven't done enough to be super confident in my calibrated feel.

The proof is in the pattern! The acctual pinion depths they give you will work, but it looks ugly usually. I came to the conclusion that the factory mock and run in on good gears are set at .018 back lash.....the pattern matches perfect every time. DO NOT SET THEM THERE.
As far as pinion preload goes....never use the crush collar, always shim them....and use a regular inch/lb torque wrench. I run them a bit tighter than reccomended.....but I can't devulge all information. ;D .......after break-in their right where I want them though.

Getting the crush sleeve started was the biggest pain! I had to make a pinion holding tool out of a chunk of Durango engine/front diff mount and Grand Cherokee front axle shaft with the CV knocked off. My SnapOn guy got a kick out of it, I'll have to get a pick and post it.
