Been a awhile since I've shared any of my VW adventures, shall we say, so here's a recent pic of the daily "beater." This is the one I dragged home with two tires in the junkyard for $100 a little over 4 years, and 74,000 miles ago. It's been fun building the car I couldn't afford in high school and it's turned into something that surprises people when they hear it has over 238,000 miles on it. Latest additions are the 16x7 Porsche Phone Dial wheels, 30 and 35mm wheel adapters, height adjustable coilovers, and the "cup" style mirrors.

Oh, it's still pretty much stock under the hood which helps with reliability and keeps a pretty consistent 30mpg on 87 octane.

I always liked the Sciroco (sp)...drove one in Germany, rock solid at 210 kmh which is about 125 mph if I recall the conversion right...

I've always been a Scirocco fan, too, just not quite as practical. Maybe some day, though. My preference is for the early Sciroccos, '74-80 models, though a 16V version of the second gen car would be a hoot. Oh, and the Golf is rock solid 120mph, too. :sheepish grin:
Thanks, Dave! I work hard to keep it as such.

Oh, it has Jeep part on it, too! Modified the class 1 trailer hitch that came on my YJ to work on the VW. Here it is hauling AWD swap parts for my buddy's '02 GTI project.

Wintermode has been engaged. Still not quite where I want it. It should give you guys a chuckle, though. I don't plan on going quite this far, the tires take too much to turn. I don't need to get into swapping in a winter trans (closer ratios), suspension, wheels/tires, and front airdam are enough. Anyways, here's the extreme end with LT195/75R14 BFG A/Ts from a guy out in Kansas: Oh, and I'm still driving it. Had 238K in June, rolled over 245K yesterday. I've slowed down a bit from my 2K/mo average. And I finally got the d**ned check engine light to stay off! :happydance:

I like that better than mega rims with rubber bands wrapped around them. That at least looks like it's ready for a pikes peak race.......well, before they paved anyway!
