Some drunk girl smashed into my BMW while it was parked in front of my house early Saturday morning. A neighbor heard it and called the police and they did get her, but it still sucks. I've only had this a little over 3 months, and only really got it's maintenance up to snuff and started driving it about a month ago. It looks like the impact missed the frame rail, but something is damaged in the suspension. It all comes down to where the insurance company values the car, rough estimates are at around $4k in damage.

That really bites. That's right up there with the one and only car I ever bought new. within roughly the same three months I got backed into at a parking lot. a little later rear ended. Hit black ice and swiped a guard rail. The wife got stuck in the mud at a county fair and I received a tip that consisted of 3 pairs of hand indentations from the three young gentlemen that helped push her out. By the time I sold the car, I don't thing there was a single straight panel on the entire thing. It was with that car that I figured I would never buy new again....so far I haven't.......and so far have never run into any such circumstances again

Just heard a few days ago from the police and she did not have insurance. Claim has already been settled with my insurance company. This car was totaled and has been retained with a salvage certificate. I have located and obtained a suitable replacement, a 2001 325i wagon, same color, gray interior, and will be swapping most of the parts installed on the other car. Not as well optioned as the first car, but more options work than on the other car. OTH, it's probably the options like the $700 headlight that helped kill the first car.
