Is there any way to add a flat plate to the underside of both the LCA and shock mount brackets? Looking at this picture,it looks like a very nice V-notch between the two for anchoring to a rock!
I know it wouldn't happen toooo often, but never is always better!

Hmm...so you just moved them outboard? I plan on moving mine up to about the axle centerline, fully otu of harm's way. Still a better location than factory, though!

Hmmm, thanks for the input guys. I just copied the design that Clayton sells. I see what you mean Neil about the V there for a rock to get stuck in, think I have an idea to solve that problem. Chopped off the stock mounts so it is truly the point of no return.
Also, finished the half top today. Looks awesome, might not be 100% water tight but it is tons better than a windjammer.

Pictures of the half top? One thing I found when they swapped in my CRD50 rear axle, they moved the shock mounts up and then my shocks bottomed out...it was a real PITA to find shocks that would fit right...so they ended up moving the mounts lower on the axle so that the Bilstiens would fit correctly...so far no hang ups...but I like the idea of a tab on the bottom to protect the mount, but that would make removing the shock harder would it not?

Pics of the half top will come tomorrow, just barely got it done in time to get to work. No close ups though, it looks great from 25 ft away, close up you can see its alot of different pieces sewn together. Doesn't flap on the highway and isn't drafty. Little more wind noise than the soft top, but that is because of the header for the safari top.

Here's the finished product. Gonna run it for a week to see how it holds up. I have alot of respect for people that sew, and sew well. Some of my seems look pretty good (straight), and some look like I was sewing drunk. Oh well, can always go back and fix it later if they come apart.

It does look good. I just can't deal with being that closed in. I hated my windjammer, made things too cramped, for me.

I wasn't a huge fan of having just the windjammer in there either, this goes back like 10 inches or so. The speaker pods on the roll bar are inside unlike with the jammer. So far so good, 2 round trips to work so far with it, hasn't flown off yet.

Looks awesome Will. Much respek to someone sewing up their own half-top. I would definitely like to be able to say that I made that up.
Will you be running that for our trip to Rausch next weekend?

Joe, yeah I'll be running it for the trip to RC. It rained pretty hard yesterday, didn't leak. Got water in the usual spot around the roll bar in the rear though.

Slapped an Aussie locker in the front after work the other night. Can't wait to try Camel Back at RC again, would have definitely helped alot the last time. Only thing left to do for RC is address my lack of load carrying ability.
