Don't know if this is the introduction page but I guess I'll give it a shot. Nuthin' special on my rig. Had an '84 CJ-7 stock, took it to Germany for a few years and brought it back. It lasted quite well going around the States, Europe, 1 marriage, 1 divorce and 165,000 miles. Sold it and now have a '79 CJ-7 Golden Eagle, which now has a Chevy 350 for power, mile-a-more winch and some more items on the way. One of which is a 700R4 tranny. I have heard of it beingput into the CJs but have yet to hear of how it was done. Yes it is going to be mated to the Quadratrac. Anybody have ideas? This is for occasional trips to the woods for hunting and daily driving. 10 miles to the gallon just don't cut it right now and the budget is a bit tight.

Gunplumber, welcome. I am going to take a wild guess that you are/were in the military. What part of the country do you call home? As for the question of help on your Jeep, your best source of information would probably be Advance Adaptors. Just Google them and you should find all the information that you want. They have been doing engine/transmission swaps in Jeeps forever.

Welcome aboard!
Post the trans question in the tech forum and you may find some help, as well. I know at least one of our members is pretty well versed in swaps. Advance Adapters is also a great resource for anything swap.

Hey everyone! My name is Jason and I am from the Buffalo NY area (please don't hold against, lol). I have a 2001 GC Laredo, straight 6 that is pretty much stock. It may be borring to the offroad crowd but I can say I love my jeep just as much. I always liked the looks and the reliability of a Jeep. The first time as an adult I sat in one I felt at home and knew I had to have one. So I feel very fortunate. So anyhoo, I had very good luck and experiences on boards pertaining to other cars I have owned so figured I may enjoy and find useful a Jeep site as well (see my tech question...).

Hi everyone my name Kevin I have been married for 19 yrs to my understanding and supportive wife Kris. We have a son Justin ,15 I recently purchased a 1977 CJ 5 that was in a garage for the last eleven yrs. I had a 62 chevy 3/4t 4x4 and sold it about 10 years ago but wanted a new wheeler so I got the Jeep for 1800.00 it is fun to tinker with and is coming along nicely. I live in Rio Linda , CA. That's near Sacramento I am an equipment operator now but was a heavy equipment mechanic for twenty years. My friends call me ski ny but I don't know why as I never ha e been but the nickname stuck so I ran with it by the way I weigh appx. 360 lbs. It is good to see a place to delve into the Jeep culture as it is great fun. Later for now Big Skinny!

WOW!!!!! Hi, my name is CT and I am a Jeepaholic. 9 and counting... I only have the first one left. It started life as an '81 CJ8 four banging Iron Duke. Bought it in '88.... first rebuild in '96...after it caught fire in a parking lot... 'glas body '77 304 (Dead 5 as a donor)... T176 from shelf parts... Top, seats, doors, fabbed up bumpers, wiring harness is from the wrecked 5 with SPECIAL additions... all must be grounded for the 'glas tub and front end... 2000 got a partial build..... Then life went a bit uhm.... well... not as well... in '04 took it apart again to "do all the things I wanted to from the beginning and change the things that did not work...." Long story shortened version: It is still under a tarp at my best friend's house! We start anew, NOVEMBER 2010!!! I was on the original ultimatejeepsite, I was stationed in Louisiana back in '99... we had such lively debates on Ugliest Jeeps and mods... Glad to see some of the old nicks still around.... Its good to be back!
