[glow=red,2,300]Greetings to all Ultimate Jeep Forum members, both old and new. [/glow] Now that the move between servers is complete, we are in the process of restoring the forum to it's original glory (20k+ members!). We think that you'll find this new format to be very user friendly and easy to navigate. In addition to the forums you see here, Ault established a Google Group in order to offer alternative communications among Ultimate Jeep Members. The group email will allow us to contact each other if there is a problem with this forum or an urgent message needs to be sent to everyone. There is also a Pages section where you can creat a personal profile. Please check out and signup if you are interested. Thanks! groups.google.com/group/ultimate-jeep-members TwistedRaybz has set up a member map group on Frappr. Please check it out and join if you like it. This is another great place to post pics of your Jeep! www.frappr.com/ultimatejeepsitePlease take a few moments to briefly introduce yourself to the crowd. Tell us about who you are, what you do, and most importantly, about your jeep(s)! Originally from Long Island, NY, I'm in the Army and currently stationed (sometimes) at Fort Bragg, NC. I was a die-hard Toyota fan until some friends dragged me kicking and screaming to the 1997 Briggs Jeep Jamboree at the Randolph ORV area near Fort Riley, KS. It's been downhill ever since. I've been married for eight years to a great woman who loves jeeps, drinks dark beer, and can drive a six-speed manual (what more can you ask for?). We'll move to Newport, RI in Summer 2007 and will likely return to NC in Summer 2008. We're on our third jeep (2005 Rubicon Unlimited), previously owning a 1998 TJ and a 1985 CJ-7. She loved the CJ but the oil spots got on her nerves. When she told me I could get the Rubi LJ if I sold the CJ, I couldn't resist. Again, welcome and enjoy the forum! -TFT

I'll follow suit....
My name is Neil(obviously) Married for 7 years to my beautiful wife Shannon. We've been together a total of 11 years.
Grew up in eastern Pa,and still here....?....
I only have my CJ 7,as far as jeeps go,which is pretty much a full blown Rock-Crawler.
I started wheeling probably 15 yrs ago with full size trucks and not to soon later decided that I wanted to build something a little smaller. So I put the word out that I was looking for a CJ 7 and soon recovered one for the measily price of a title swap. Collectively laying out all of my wheeling knowledge and suspension tricks I built the CJ - now known as the BLACKWIDOW for it's prowess.
I've met quite a few guys from the site and always have had a blast, and formed, what I'm sure to be,some long lasting freinds. So I encourage anyone to come out and meet the guys for a ride. You'll never regret it!
As for work,I'm currently employed at Camelback Ski area. I'm a welder, heavy machine operator, truck driver, snow maker and Mechanic. I'm currently also in the process of starting my own fabrication shop which will become to be known as NRP Customs. I am currently, very busy with lots of side work,so if your looking for anything custom built, drop a message. Gears,Engine work, fabbing, you name it,I do it. Alot cheaper than the common shop, with no loss of attention to detail. This is the only way I'll be able to afford going full blown on my own(buisness).
Happy wheeling!

My name is Andy
My first Jeep is still my only Jeep, a '95 YJ. I got into Jeeping closing on 5 yrs ago when i bought my YJ. I'd always loved Jeeps since childhood, and had begun looking for a project Jeep. I ended up totalling my car and decided to just buy a DD Jeep, and it's all bee downhill, as was stated above! Slowly working up to the day nothing hasn't been touched. The stock 4 banger will be repalced with a hi-perf built '85 based assembly, prob next year, and the stock axles will be gone by the end of the year. It sits on about 4" total lift, AX15 swap, still NP231 w/SYE and CV shaft, all your basic bolt on perf mods, etc.
I work at a small speed shop called American Speed Center selling and installing parts. It's so-so, but I love the discount! Neil, if you're ever looking for an employee, count me in!!

My name is Mark and I live up here in Alden, MI. My wife Pam and I have been married 18 years. I'm from MI, she's from PA we met in a tattoo shop in CO and got married by a taxi driver in GA. True story. We have 2 daughters from previous marriages; ages 27 and 23 who have blessed us with 4 grandchildren. Working on #5. We have a son-in-law who is on is second tour in Iraq as a Combat Engineer. I'm retired Army. 13 great years in Air Defense and 7 years of fun(?) as a recruiter. My wife served 6 years in the Reserves as well. We have 5 dogs. 3 are Rottweilers which were rescued from abusive owners. The other 2 are a mastiff mix and something black and hairy which were saved from the animal shelter. I am the rookiest of rookies when it comes to Jeeps. I always thought they were overpriced. Don't hate me. About a year ago I traded an Explorer for a 93 Grand which wouldn't start. Jumped those wires in the door and have been hooked ever since. I have seen the light. ;D My DD is a '90 XJ 2 door. A real workhorse.
To all you Military, you are in our prayers.

My name is Andy, and I'm a recovering Jeepaholic. (Everybody: "Hi Andy") My dad got me hooked on Jeeps when I was a youngen. My first vehicle was a 1979 CJ-7 at the age of 16. I then went on to start an unfinished '77 CJ-5 project. Then bought a stock '83 J-10. Lifted that 6 inches and put 35" tires under that. I think the J-10 has to be my favorite looking back. It was a beast with a 360 in it. I could get through and up anything. Then I bought a '49 Willys CJ-3A and did a ground up on that with a fiberglass body. And then I had a 2000 Grand Cherokee to tow and do light wheeling with. I frequented Silver Lake and the Badlands in Attica. I'm Jeepless now. The last one I held onto was the Willys. I had to sell that because I couldn't afford it and I needed money to support my family. But I still desire owning a Jeep. When I get to that point, I'll own one again. Probably a used TJ. (Maybe I can get a cheap 4 door Unlimited by that time!) I live with my girlfriend, Christy, and her 12 year old daughter. She also has a 7 year old son. Christy and I have been together for almost 4 years now. I enjoy all the aspects of fabrication. That's one of the reasons I love modifying Jeeps so much. You get some cutting, welding, design, electrical, plumbing and everything else all rolled up into one. I was working for a couple different suppliers in the steel industry. After dealing with the instability of that industry, I decided to get out of it and do something less stressful. I'm now a custodian aka "cleaning boy" at a college. My thoughts go out to all who are or were in the military. Thanks for all that you do for us!

My name is Dave, 23 years old, from NJ. Waiter/Bartender currently, finishing up my final semester of college (May 07 grad, hopefully)
Bought my first Jeep in 2001, it is my 91 XJ. My dad never really cared for off-roading. "All you're doing is splashing in mud puddles." I took him out once in his old Expedition. Since then, my dad and I have gotten into it pretty deep. We now have 4 Jeeps. (see below)
I bought my Jeep stock, and drove it as such for about a year. Then I started modding it. God a small crappy lift which I loved for a while, then decided to go up. And up. And up. And I'm still not done. Its got a 5.5" mix n match lift, Long arms, Ford 8.8 rear, 4:56 gears, front and rear lockers (ARB and Auburn, respectively) looking for 35"s and so on and so forth.
Going to do a complete rebuild/mod to the CJ5, have a rough idea, but we'll see how it turns out.
Have very much changed my tastes in 4wheeling since I began. Started out flooring it though mud holes, now prefer the rocky terrain. Have met a bunch of people from the site, and am extremely addicted to Jeepin. (Rubbed off on the girlfriend now too!)

Hi, I am Brian and I go by Brian (I live my life by the KISS principle) . I live in Colorado Springs with my wonderful, Jeep loving wife Stephanie . I also have three grown children (from my first marriage) and two beautiful grandchildren . My first Jeep experience was driving out neighbors CJ5 when I was a kid and then driving Army Jeeps until we switched to the HMMWV so I had to buy one of my own. I have owned an Grand Wagoner (FJ), Cherokee (XJ), two Grand Cherokees (ZJ), Liberty (KJ) and I currently drive a 2002 Wrangler (TJ) and my wife drives a 2006 Commander (XK). My 15 minutes of fame in the Jeep world was back in 1994 when Chrysler used me in a National Jeep add after I traded my '88 Cherokee in with 292,000 miles on the clock for a '94 Grand Cherokee . I love taking the road or trail less traveled and exploring God's wonderful creation in my Jeep, camping, hiking and meeting fellow Jeepers on the trail or at an organized event. There is something special about real Jeep owners, hence the saying "It's a Jeep thing...you wouldn't understand". I believe in and strongly support the concepts of "Tread Lightly" and "Leave no trace". Some of the folks I have met through Jeeping have become good personal friends and that is greatest reward of owing a Jeep.

I guess I should sign in here too. I have been around the UJS since around 1999-2000. I was one of the 6 or 7 original folks to attend the first UJS get together at Turkey Bay OHV Area at Land Between the Lakes in western Kentucky. I have met with several of these same original folks at least once a year every year since then along with many new folks from this site. I have been married to my lovely and very supporting wife deb for 34 years now and we have one son Patrick who turned 20 today. I have owned 4 wheel drive vehicles ever since 1974 including mostly Chevy full size Blazers and Jeep products. My DD is a 2000 Tj with more mods on it than I can list. I own a 2004 dodge Ram 2500 Diesel my wife insisted I buy to use to tow the Jeep when I trapse all over the country wheeling with it so I can be sure to be able to get home. My wife currently drives a 2005 Liberty and my son drives a 98 TJ. Enough for now, I'm tired of typing.

My Name is Emerson and since I'm 50 years old I am officially part of the "Old Farts Club" I live in Hartland New Brunswick Canada. The smallest incorporated Town with the longest Covered Bridge in the world. www.town.hartland.nb.ca/I own a 1993 YJ and my wife has a 2001 Grand Cherokee, our daily driver. The Life and Times of Snikum Born in 1956 on a farm in rural New Brunswick. My parents not only had a farm but also had a lumber business as well. They named me Emerson and I could never figure out why such a weird name, until years later a neighbor asked if I would be interested in an old radio he had since 1950. When I saw the radio it all became clear. My mother used to clean their house and baby set for them when she was pregnant for me. In big gold letters on this old tube style radio was the word. “Emerson”. I said to myself, “Great I was named after a cheap radio” Since I always hated my name my friends called me “Crash” from all the accidents I had. When My wife likes me she calls me Beau, after her grandfather(Jack LaBeau Burr)..when she don’t like me I’m called several other names none of witch I will enclose…The name “snikum” just came from one time the wife was in a good mood and said “you’re my snookum” soon after that I needed a user name for something and that came to my head but I misspelled it, so snikum has been my user name for several years on anything I join on the web. My mother and father were not rich but were the best off in the community. During the fifties and 60’s the only work was on farms or in the woods, and since my family operated both we where the community employer. Matter of fact I remember getting beat up the first week of school because I had new blue jeans and every other kid had hand me downs with patches…But since this was a country school with an out door two hole toilet, and all six grades in one room…it didn’t take long to gain every ones trust, and soon we where all just kids with no animosity towards one another. I think my mother pulled a fast one on my Dad since she was religious and my father drank and smoked, she told him that since I had pneumonia 3 times during my pre school years that I was allergic to tobacco smoke. From that time on dad smoked outside. I remember one of the men came in the house one Friday night to get his pay with a cigarette. Mom told him to get rid of it because her son was allergic to the smoke…He said “That’s funny your son is out behind the barn right now puffing on one.” Well I was 11 years old at the time so of course my older brother supplied me with it. And did he ever get a whopping. Nothing much exiting happened until the summer I was 16...I got my car license, started working in the woods earning some money, fooling around with the girls, so to me at that time school was not real important. I failed grade 11, but pleaded with the teacher to give me a couple credits just so I could get into grade 12 and graduate…he bluntly said that we don’t do that here…so I quit… Ironically a few years later after marriage 2 kids and living the Canadian dream a knock came on the door, standing at my front door was that same teacher…He said he was running for public office and would like our two votes….I thought for a second and said.” Do you remember when I needed two credits to pass into grade 12??? He said “ vaguely” Well I said there are two votes in this house and you’re not getting them…That made me feel real good. During my mid teen years I was dabbling with drugs. I remember sitting on Main Street in town one night in front of a clothing store with my girlfriend, (now my present wife) carrying on a conversation with a lady manikin in the store front window. The next day my girlfriend told me that she did not like drugs and that if I continued her and I where done. Well bless her heart; I stopped doing drugs right then and there. Being young and growing up in the logging environment I was looking for something else to do for a living. By this time I had wrecked three cars and was a regular customer at the local body shop…The manager looked at me one day and said with a grin..” since you spend so much time here, would you be interested in coming to work.” Well I started the next day…got married and after a year at the body shop we needed more money, so I found a job at a fiberglass plant making sleeper births for trucks. Worked my way up to foreman and in 1980 was bringing home $380.00 a week…good money for the time but my weekend hobby of drag racing was driving me to make more. In 1980 I went back to my heritage and started cutting lumber. I worked hard and made good money to the point we always had a new car and a new 4X4...had 3 skidders at one time but found it too hard to keep a decent crew, so I went down to just one machine and one hired man…things where much simpler this way. Probably the most memorable time while in the woods was when a hardwood Jill poked on a stump behind the skidder, came around and hit me so hard on the side of the head it through me ass over tea kittle back in the brush…when I came to my senses I was on my hands and knees swearing at my self for being so stupid….as I was swearing my head was bobbing up and down. The skidder operator thought I was seriously hurt and having convulsions. After I got up on my feet still a bit shaky the skidder operator came over and said ( Boss I can’t work for you any more)..I asked him why and he said (well the way I see it, if you don’t kill your self, your going to scare me to death) Of course he was just kidding but it was funny at the time. During the 90’s my wife got so interested in computers that she went to work for a computer store with an agreement she would trade her time for knowledge and experience, after about a year and a half, working for free got to be an old story, so I urged her to start her own little shop. Nothing big just a place to hang her hat every day and pick up a few extra bucks. So in June of 1999 she had her own store. After about 6 months business picked up to the point she needed help. Since I had been in the woods for nearly 20 years it seemed like a good idea for me to give it up and help with her business. To tell you the truth, after 8 years I am beginning to hate computers. It is not so much the computers, but the public blaming us for everything that happens to their machine. Although several car accidents, some with potential for serious injury if not death, I survived with no more that facial cuts and whiplash, along with having my jaw , ankles and fingers broke, teeth knocked out(Ya I’ve got a hockey players smile), from lumbering days, I would have to say that life has been good. 30 years married to a lovely lady, 2 great kids, 4 grandchildren. Every one is healthy and we have not had to deal with any serious family crises that a lot of families have to... (Unexpected deaths, life threatening illnesses) By now your probably wondering how this all fits into a Jeep forum. Well my wife and I always admired Jeeps but out of the 75 or so vehicles we had never owned one. I went to an auction one evening looking to buy a 4x4 pickup but when this white 1993 YJ came across the auction block I had to have it. Paid more than I should have but when I drove in the door yard with it and told the misses to come out and see what I brought home, we where like two kids in a candy store. Yup we got the fever, so when it came time to trade our daily driver ( Dodge Van) in for a newer model, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was our first choice. More as life continues.

Well, since we are all starting over with our ranks... , I guess I will share too. I got into Jeeps just 2 years ago. Don't ask me why I didn't start sooner, just didn't think about it before while raising a family. Now that my 2 boys are in their teens, I guess it was time to get one. My wife calls it my "mid life crisis". My wife and I will be celebrating our 24th anniversary on April 2. My wife stays at home and homeschools our 2 boys. I am a store manager and have been in retail for 30 years now. I have no mechanical experience and keep learning how to maintain the jeep and what I would like to do to it. It is stock right now and I am in between whether to modify it now or wait till its paid off, get a new Rubicon and then modify my current Jeep. But I will never get rid of it, I love it too much. My wife also got into Jeeps after I got mine, we traded in her Mini Van for 2003 GC. Which she loves and we took it on a cross country trip last year with our camper and it did a fantastic job. I have met some of the members and look forward to meeting more. Just a great bunch of Jeepers to be associated with. Al
